Membership in The 1847 Society

The 1847 Society

Membership in The 1847 Society is extended to individuals who have arranged a deferred gift to the UI Foundation in any of the following ways:

Bequest in a will or revocable trust

Leave a legacy for your favorite UI program, department, or college without affecting your current assets

Charitable remainder trust, pooled income fund, or gift annuity

Provide current tax benefits while retaining a stream of income for you or other beneficiaries

Charitable lead trust

Provide income to the UI Foundation now and pass the principal of the asset back to your heirs at reduced tax cost

Beneficiary of an IRA, qualified retirement or pension plan, or annuity

Provide a future gift with possible tax savings for your heirs

Life insurance policy

Make a significant gift with a modest investment

Remainder interest in personal residence or farm

Receive a tax savings now and continue to live in your home
