The Flood of 2008:  Recovery and Renewal

The University of Iowa campus suffered widespread and unprecedented damage as a result of the historic flood of 2008. Alumni and friends responded with a flood of their own, and donations to the UI Flood Relief Fund poured in from around the country and across the globe, reaching more than $1.2 million by early 2009.

The Iowa River receded many months ago, and today our focus is on rebuilding the dozens of campus facilities damaged by the flood, and renewing our commitment to providing the very best in education, research, and service to UI students, faculty, staff, the citizens of Iowa, and people around the world.

Your gifts are vitally important in helping The University of Iowa continue the process of flood recovery.  Until plans for rebuilding our arts campus and other facilities are finalized, contributions to the UI Flood Relief Fund will be used at UI President Sally Mason's discretion to meet areas of flood-related need throughout the campus.

Gifts may be made to the fund online by visiting www.givetoiowa.org/floodfund, or they may be sent by mail to the UI Foundation, P.O. Box 4550, Iowa City, Iowa 52244-4550.
