Highlights of 2004 Giving
TOTAL GIVING
In 2004 the UI Foundation received $77.3 million in outright gifts and $77.8 million in future commitments (pledges, trusts, bequests) from nearly 66,000 contributors -- more than $155 million in total productivity.
CONTRIBUTORS
The $77.3 million received outright came from 33,044 alumni; 30,537 non-alumni; and from 2,372 businesses, foundations, and other organizations. More than 2,400 University of Iowa faculty and staff made gifts in 2004.
USE OF OUTRIGHT GIFTS
Contributors directed their outright gifts ($77.3 million) to programs and projects campus-wide, including to student support (15.9 %); faculty support (11.2%); capital support (13.0%); program support (59.4%); and unrestricted support to the UI (0.5%).
REPEAT DONORS
More than 19,800 contributors gave to the Foundation twice or more during the year, bringing the total number of individual gifts received to 113,018. Alumni and friends from every state and from 21 other countries sent gifts to the UI Foundation in 2004.
PRESIDENTS CLUB
By the end of 2004, the total number of individuals and organizations in the honor club for the University's most generous contributors reached 5,584. This figure includes 163 Presidents Club Gold members ($1 million or more in cumulative outright or deferred support) and 412 Presidents Club Silver members ($250,000 - $999,999 in cumulative outright or deferred support). Although 2,459 Presidents Club members are Iowans, members also hail from 48 states and nine countries.
