Highlights of 2005 Giving
TOTAL GIVING
In 2005 the UI Foundation received $73.7 million in outright gifts and $126.7 million in future commitments (pledges, trusts, bequests) from 67,725 contributors -- more than $200 million in total productivity.
CONTRIBUTORS
The $73.7 million received outright came from 32,425 alumni; 32,993 non-alumni; and from 2,307 businesses, foundations, and other organizations. Nearly 2,400 University of Iowa faculty and staff made gifts in 2005.
USE OF OUTRIGHT GIFTS
Contributors directed their outright gifts ($73.7 million) to programs and projects campus-wide, including to student support (20.0%); faculty support (11.6%); capital support (14.3%); program support (53.6%); and unrestricted support to the UI (0.5%).
REPEAT DONORS
More than 21,465 contributors gave to the Foundation twice or more during the year, bringing the total number of individual gifts received to 118,304. Alumni and friends from every state and from 24 other countries sent gifts to the UI Foundation in 2005.
PRESIDENTS CLUB
By the end of 2005, the total number of individuals and organizations in the honor club for the University's most generous contributors reached 5,729. This figure includes 173 Presidents Club Gold members ($1 million or more in cumulative outright or deferred support) and 439 Presidents Club Silver members ($250,000 - $999,999 in cumulative outright or deferred support). Although 2,543 Presidents Club members are Iowans, members also hail from 47 states and nine countries. Learn more about the Presidents Club.
