This is more than a Museum of Art -- it is a museum about art!
The University of Iowa Museum of Art (UIMA) offers the invaluable experience of art to the people of the University, the community, the state of Iowa, and beyond.
More than 12,000 works in the Museum’s permanent collection provide countless opportunities to explore the role of the visual arts in human life.
Although the flood of June 2008 caused significant damage to the museum building, the collection was undamaged and is being housed in secure art storage in Chicago until a new facility becomes available.
The Museum faces these challenges as committed as ever to fulfilling its mission, and continues to offer special exhibitions in alternate locations, educational programs for hundred of Iowa students; opportunities for UI art students and faculty to exhibit their works and to use the collection for learning; and fun, art-centered community events.
