The University of Iowa
Museum of Art
This is more than a Museum of Art -- it is a museum about art!
The UI Museum of Art (UIMA) serves the University and the surrounding region by providing an inviting and inspiring place to explore the role of the visual arts in human life. Seven permanent galleries represent a collection of about 12,000 works of art ranging from African to Iowan.
The museum hosts major special exhibitions as well. Several exhibitions that have had an important influence on the art world -- such as the first-ever comprehensive presentation of Victorian Fairy Paintings, curated in collaboration with the Royal Academy of Arts, London -- had their roots at the UIMA.
And educational and entertaining programming for community members of all ages, often in conjunction with other UI arts programs, round out an innovative resource for all Iowans. Read more.
