Passion and Power:
University of Iowa Women's Rowing
With bodies and blades moving in unison, University of Iowa women rowers have been giving their all to the country's oldest intercollegiate sport since 1994, when the rowing program was established at Iowa.
During these years, the UI rowing team has earned a solid reputation, through heart and hard work, among the country's collegiate rowing programs. Hawkeye rowers have competed at the highest levels, pushing themselves and each other to excel in both athletics and academics. And they’ve done it all without a permanent home.
Now, University alumni and friends are joining with the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics to build a home for our rowing team. The state-of-the-art P. Sue Beckwith, M.D., Boathouse on the banks of the Iowa River will be a beautiful facility necessary for the continued growth of our rowing program. In addition, the Beckwith Boathouse will provide recreational opportunities for all members of the UI and surrounding community.
