Abdul Hodge '06 Communications Studies
Hometown: Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Chad Greenway '06 Communications Studies
Hometown: Mount Vernon, South Dakota

Iowa football players Chad Greenway and Abdul Hodge come from vastly different backgrounds, one rural and the other urban. But they have an unbreakable bond that's stronger than any differences: Iowa Hawkeye pride.

Chad and Abdul are two of the premier linebackers in the nation. Iowa's Big Ten and national rivals would love to have these pre-season All-Americans -- both are on the watch lists for the Chuck Bednarik Award, the Lott Trophy, and the Lombardi Award -- but these dedicated Hawkeyes wouldn't trade the experience of playing for Head Coach Kirk Ferentz in Kinnick Stadium for anything.

"Kinnick Stadium is one of the greatest places I've ever played," says Chad. "No matter the weather, the fans are always there, showing how much they love the Hawkeyes. It's a unique environment."

Chad and Abdul say Iowa fans' financial support is another message they and their fellow student-athletes hear loud and clear.

"I enjoy talking with I-Club groups and thanking them for all they do for us," says Abdul. "From scholarships to the Kinnick Stadium renovation to things like the Gerdin Athletic Learning Center, we all really appreciate their support."

Thanks to I-Club members and other contributors, the future is bright for well-educated, talented UI student-athletes like Chad and Abdul. And no matter where these two go after graduating, they will always share a common heritage, forged on the football field in Hawkeye black and gold.
