Attending the UI Henry B. Tippie College of Business just seemed like business as usual for Paris Ivory. It was a natural choice for a young woman who has known since she was a little girl that she wanted to follow in her father's footsteps and start her own business.
"I love working with people, and I wanted to turn that passion into a professional career," Paris says. "After coming to Iowa for a campus visit on a beautiful fall day, I just knew that the UI Tippie College of Business was the right place for me to make that happen."
The UI management and organization major from Bolingbrook, Illinois, has made the most of her time at Iowa so far. She is the recipient of many scholarships, including the Wynnona G. Hubbard Scholarship and the Morris Scholarship -- which helped make it more affordable for her to attend the UI Tippie College of Business.
Once she got there, Paris hit the ground running and hasn't slowed down since. In addition to her course work within the college, which includes a certificate in entrepreneurship and many extracurricular activities, Paris also has completed a number of internships in her field and was the only student representative on a dean's search committee within the college. She knows that all these activities will move her even closer to her dream of opening her own day spa in the future.
"The University of Iowa is an exceptional school with outstanding students, and I know a degree from here will help me achieve my goals," Paris says. "Private support motivates students like me to work even harder and to make sure our degrees are useful, so that we can help others after we graduate."
