Examples of
Faculty and Staff Giving
- For many years, Dale Bentz, professor emeritus and former head of the UI Libraries, and his wife Mary Gail, have generously supported numerous departments and programs ranging from the Friends of the Libraries to the Museum of Art to UI Athletics programs.
- Rita Foley has worked at the UI for more than 30 years. A secretary in intercollegiate athletics, she has a range of UI interests and makes regular annual contributions to both the Hawkeye Fund and Hancher Circle.
- Prior to his death in 1992, longtime Professor of English Rhodes Dunlap established a major endowment for the UI Honors Program, which he directed for many years. Thanks to his thoughtful estate gift, this fund now provides undergraduate scholarship funds, awards for excellence, and research funds that will benefit countless UI students.
- Professor Arthur Earl Bonfield, associate dean and John Murray Distinguished Professor of Law, has designated the Iowa Law School Foundation as primary beneficiary of a portion of his CREF/IRA account. His gift will augment the Law Library Fund, an endowment he has supported with annual pledges since 1997.
- Lesanne Fliehler, director of publications and assistant director of University Relations, uses payroll withholding to make gifts to the Women's Resource and Action Center. She also contributes to the Iowa Impact Fund and the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, from which she received an M.A. degree in 1983.

"So many people touch your life whom you can't thank or repay, but you can pass on their kindness and generosity to empower someone else.
"You just want to keep the circle going."
