The Opportunities You Open: 
For UI graduates to stand out among their peers as alumni, they must have extraordinary educational experiences as students -- like presenting research at scholarly conferences, performing or showing artistic work at prestigious venues, investigating ideas using cutting-edge tools and resources, or seizing other opportunities beyond the classroom. Unrestricted support -- whether it's part of the campus-wide Iowa Impact Fund or the annual development funds of individual colleges, departments, or programs -- helps the UI support the aspirations of enterprising and energetic students. Gifts of all sizes are crucial to the ongoing innovation that is a hallmark of the Iowa experience. During the Good. Better. Best. Iowa campaign, contributors have responded to snail mail, e-mail, phone calls, and other solicitations by giving more than $264.4 million to the discretionary funds of the UI areas of their choice -- including more than $2.6 million dollars given online at www.givetoiowa.org. And 10 contributors have given a minimum of $100,000 each to create named Iowa Impact Endowments, the primary source of University-wide discretionary resources directed to areas of greatest need and opportunity by the UI president and the provost.
