About the Campaign In 1999, The University of Iowa issued the call: Let's join together to lift the UI from very good, to better than ever, to the best university possible. The University of Iowa Foundation took up the challenge of augmenting strong public support for the University by securing the private gift funding necessary for the next level of UI leadership in education, research, and service to Iowa, the nation, and the world. The response to the effort among alumni and friends -- committed supporters like you -- was so enthusiastic that in April 2004 the UI raised the campaign's goal from $850 million to $1 billion. By the campaign's conclusion at the end of 2005, more than 128,000 individuals and organizations gave a total of more than $1.05 billion to advance the people, programs, and priorities of Iowa's flagship university. The work of building and sustaining a dynamic future for The University of Iowa will never end. But now is a time for celebrating what we've accomplished together: the biggest outpouring of generosity and support that this state has ever seen. Major Campaign Announcements
