Recognizing Your Generosity

By Marvin Pomerantz, 1952 B.S.C.
Campaign Co-Chair
Des Moines

Helping an institution like The University of Iowa brings many of its own intangible rewards: It keeps me connected to my educational community, and it makes me feel good to know that I'm benefiting my state and my nation.

Though this would be recognition enough for many of us, the UI believes in appropriately thanking the people who support its endeavors.

One of the ways in which the University acknowledges contributions to The Campaign to Advance Our Great University is through membership in The Presidents Club, which recognizes givers who provide cumulative support of $40,000 or more to any area within the University.

The Presidents Club also offers special recognition to individuals and organizations providing cumulative outright or deferred support at these exceptionally generous levels:

  • The Presidents Club Gold
    Cumulative outright support of
    $1 million or more
        or
    Deferred support of
    $2.5 million or more
  • The Presidents Club Silver
    Cumulative outright support of
    $250,000 through $999,999
        or
    Deferred support of
    $625,000 through $2,499,999

Many UI colleges and departments also offer their own individualized recognition -- for gifts of many different forms and sizes -- through giving clubs, printed lists of contributors, and permanent honor-roll plaques.

Special recognition also is offered to contributors creating named professorships and chairs (minimum endowments of $500,000 and $1.5 million, respectively), named Iowa Impact Fund endowments ($100,000 or more), and named undergraduate or graduate student scholarships (minimum endowments of $30,000 or $60,000, respectively).

No matter how you choose to participate in this campaign, I hope you know that the people in the UI community -- and all who benefit from the University's wide influence -- recognize and appreciate your commitment.

Thank you for giving your best to The University of Iowa.

Additional information about contributor recognition programs also is available on this site.

Marvin Pomerantz,
a 1952 UI business graduate and long-time University of Iowa contributor, and his wife, Rose Lee, have made significant UI contributions, including a generous $10 million gift to establish the new Pomerantz Center, which will be home to the UI's first unified career services program and a number of other University services.

The Pomerantzes, of Des Moines, also provided instrumental support for two faculty chairs in the Henry B. Tippie College of Business and made a significant gift to help establish the Pomerantz Family Pavilion at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
