The University of Iowa College of Education
The UI College of Education's focus is on the future: Preparing the next generation of educators who will teach, guide, and counsel students in science, mathematics, the social sciences, gifted education, and more.
Regarded as a national and international leader, with publications such as U.S. News & World Report touting its programs, the college offers its students an unparalleled educational environment -- and Iowa, the nation, and the world a source of talented educators. In fact, graduates of the college can be found teaching in nearly every district in our state, in every state in America, and in countries around the globe.
Comprising four departments -- Counseling, Rehabilitation, and Student Development; Educational Policy and Leadership Studies; Psychological and Quantitative Foundations; and Teaching and Learning -- the college's distinctions include:
- The Belin-Blank International Center for Gifted Education and Talent Development, the most comprehensive center in the United States dedicated to research and service in gifted education.
- Science Education, one of a handful of U.S. programs selected by the National Science Foundation to help reform the way science is taught and learned in American schools.
- A #3 ranking for the Department of Counseling, Rehabilitation, and Student Development, and a #8 ranking for the Department of Psychological and Quantitative Foundations, by U.S. News & World Report.
Iowa Testing Programs, which developed the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills and the Iowa Tests of Educational Development, widely used throughout the United States and Canada.
