Gift Planning at Iowa
A periodic e-newsletter from The University of Iowa Foundation about trends and issues affecting charitable gift planning

Welcome to our eleventh issue, with a focus on using IRA assets for charitable giving.

News Bulletin: Special legislation allows tax-free charitable gifts from your IRA
Thanks to the success of tax-deferred investments within qualified retirement plans, many people have found that they have sufficient funds for retirement and that they will probably have funds left for distribution to heirs and charitable causes they wish to support. Now, under the Pension Protection Act of 2006, you may be eligible to make a gift from your IRA while you are living without incurring undesirable tax effects.

Planning matters
The UI Foundation's Susan Hagan discusses using IRA assets as a philanthropic tool -- particularly in light of the Pension Protection Act of 2006.

What's old is new again for the Hawkeyes!

The UI community came together on September 1, 2006, to rededicate historic Kinnick Stadium after an $86.8 million, two-year renovation project.

The celebration included the dedication of the new Krause Family Plaza on the stadium's south side along Melrose Avenue, and teammates of 1939 Heisman Trophy winner and stadium namesake Nile Kinnick (1940 B.A.) unveiled a new statue of Kinnick. See more photos of this once-in-a-lifetime event!
