A periodic e-newsletter from the National I-Club
with news about the Iowa Hawkeyes and the I-Club

Dear Hawkeye Friend:
Photo
A year ago in the I-Club E-News, I wrote that one reason I was so eager to be the new University of Iowa Director of Athletics was because of the legendary loyalty and dedication of Iowa fans like you. That Hawkeye passion has certainly been confirmed.

From watching the Hawkeyes play in the beautifully renovated Kinnick Stadium to hiring Todd Lickliter as men’s basketball coach and Mark Hankins as men’s golf coach to watching the great success of the field hockey team and Mark Perry’s NCAA wrestling championship, it has been a tremendously exciting and fulfilling year.

UI athletics is made up of talented and committed student-athletes, first-rate coaches and staff—and you, the fans in black and gold who support your Hawkeyes every step of the way, including through financial contributions. Your I-Club gifts are vitally important to the UI’s athletic success and are heard by our student-athletes every bit as loudly as your cheers. Thank you!

I look forward to seeing many of you on September 1 at “Kinnick East” -- otherwise known as Soldier Field in Chicago -- when the Iowa football team plays Northern Illinois University and kicks off the UI’s 2007-2008 athletic season. If you can’t make it, I know you’ll be there in true Hawkeye spirit.

GO HAWKEYES!
