A periodic e-newsletter from the National I-Club
with news about the Iowa Hawkeyes and the I-Club
Dear Fellow Hawkeye Fans,
As the Iowa River slowly recedes from the unprecedented flooding on the University of Iowa campus, we are able to assess the significant damage to some beloved athletic facilities. Finkbine Golf Course's signature hole #13 was under water; construction of the UI rowing program's P. Sue Beckwith Boathouse has been delayed; and Pearl Field, home of Hawkeye Softball, and Cretzmeyer Track were heavily damaged.
For the most up-to-date information on the UI and the Flood of 2008, and for a large gallery of photos, visit the University's flood information web site at http://uiflood2.blogspot.com/. If you would like to support the flood efforts, make sure to double your gift through the Big Ten Network.

I am extremely proud of the contribution our Athletic Department staff, their families, and our student-athletes have made through their volunteer efforts on campus, in Iowa City and Coralville, and elsewhere.
With the emotional and financial support of Hawkeye fans everywhere, our University and the Iowa athletic program will continue the great UI tradition of excellence and integrity as demonstrated by Iowa sophomore wrestler Brent Metcalf, who just this week was named the recipient of the Jesse Owens Big Ten Male Athlete of the Year. For information on the many other achievements by Iowa's coaches and student-athletes, please visit www.hawkeyesports.com often.
Thanks for your support. On Iowa and Go Hawks!
Gary Barta
Director of Athletics
