Graduate College
Give to IowaWorking closely with the other University of Iowa colleges, the Graduate College has developed a tradition of access, equality, diversity, and excellence among the graduate student body. This tradition includes many “firsts,” including admission of women on an equal basis with men (starting in 1851, only four years after the university was founded). With oversight of more than 100 graduate programs throughout the university, the UI Graduate College plays an essential role in preparing advanced students for academic and career success.
Approximately 25 percent of UI students are registered in the Graduate College, working with, and being mentored by, almost 1,700 faculty members across campus to perform crucial research and help teach undergraduate students. More than 20 percent of UI degrees awarded annually are conferred by the college.
