Hancher Auditorium
Since its debut in 1972, the University of Iowa's Hancher Auditorium has become the state's leading arts presenter and -- according to many experts -- is among the leading arts presenters in the nation.
International Arts Manager magazine named Hancher as one of the top 10 university-based presenters in the United States in 1999. More than 4 million patrons have experienced Hancher performances, and more than 20,000 children from across Iowa participate each year in its arts-education programs.
Private gifts from patrons, friends, and alumni are essential in helping Hancher schedule world-class performances, commission exciting new works, expand arts-education programming, provide arts- and theatre-management training for UI students, and keep ticket prices affordable.
