The University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine has set the standard for excellence since the college was established in 1870. U.S. News & World Report ranks the UI Carver College of Medicine among the nation's top 10 medical schools in the areas of rural medicine, primary care, and family medicine. The college has three inextricably linked missions -- education, research, and patient care -- and it aspires to be responsive to the needs of society, particularly the citizens of Iowa.
Approximately 680 medical students, 445 resident physicians, 127 fellows,
180 allied health students, and 150 graduate students study the art and science of modern medicine in 21 departments. In addition to undergraduate and graduate medical education, the College offers some of the nation's top ranked graduate, professional, and interdisciplinary programs, including:
