IOWA CITY -- Jason Bridie of
Coralville, Iowa, has been named director of development at The University
of Iowa Foundation for the College of Nursing and the College of Medicine.
As a director of development, Bridie will focus on generating major
private gift support for the College of Nursing, the Departments of
Biophysics and Physiology, and various research centers in the College
of Medicine.
Bridie, who joined the UI Foundation Jan. 31,
previously served as alumni and development director for the College
of Business and Public Administration at Drake University in Des Moines.
He also served the Iowa Association of School Boards in Des Moines for
six years as a government relations specialist.
"The University of Iowa health science programs
are a major asset, not only for the university, but for the state of
Iowa. I am proud to be associated with the important work the investigators,
faculty and students are doing in both nursing and medicine," Bridie
said. "The opportunity to develop long-term support for health care
allows the University to make commitments to faculty who initiate pioneering
research, develop stronger teaching programs, and invest in new technologies.
Their work affects lives today and in the future, and that's very gratifying."
Bridie, a native of Clarinda, Iowa, graduated
from Iowa State University in 1992 with a bachelor's degree in family
resource management and financial counseling. He is actively involved
with the Sigma Chi fraternity, serving as a chapter advisor to undergraduate
students and on the board of directors.
Bridie and his wife, Sara, have a seven-month-old
son, Jackson.
The UI Foundation is the preferred channel
for private contributions to all areas of the university. Foundation
staff work with alumni and friends to generate funds for scholarships,
professorships, facilities improvements, equipment purchases, research
and other UI initiatives.
