UI Foundation web site wins national award
Posted November 26, 2002
IOWA CITY -- The University of Iowa Foundation's web site was named an Outstanding Web Site in the 2002 Webaward Competition sponsored by the Web Marketing Association. The foundation's site, located at www.uiowafoundation.org, was judged against other nonprofit organizations' sites nationwide.
In a comment accompanying the announcement of the award, one judge called the site, "A beautifully crafted site with tasteful use of people images and stories that reinforce the emotion associated with giving."
The award follows a silver medal for the site, announced earlier this year, from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, which represents colleges and universities across the country.
The site also won recognition as Site of the Month for August 2002 by McPherson Associates, a Pennsylvania-based business that offers consulting services for nonprofit organizations.
During the period beginning January 1, 2002, and ending October 31, 2002, the site garnered more than $130,000 in private gifts made online for the benefit of students, faculty and staff in all areas of the University of Iowa. The site was designed by UI Foundation staff members Nic Arp, Theresa Black, Albert Jagnow, Hilery Livengood and Beth Nobles.
The UI Foundation is acknowledged by the UI as a preferred channel for private contributions that benefit all areas of the university. Foundation staff work with alumni and friends to generate funds for scholarships, professorships, facilities, equipment, research and other university priorities.
