UI WISE program awards travel grants

IOWA CITY -- The University of Iowa Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) program has announced 2003 fall semester award recipients of its Dr. Eunice Schuytema Beam Travel Grant Program.
The award winners, each of whom will receive $250 toward travel to a professional meeting to present scholarly work, are:
- Sara Binz of Dubuque, Iowa, a biochemistry doctoral student, who delivered an oral presentation, "Evidence for intersubunit regulatory interactions in Replication Protein A," at the Eukaryotic DNA Replication, Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y., Sept. 3-7, 2003.
- Ceyda Polatel of Turkey, a civil and environmental engineering doctoral student, who delivered an oral presentation, "Students of IAHR -- Iowa Chapter Activity Report," at the XXX IAHR Congress, Thessaloniki, Greece, Aug. 24-29, 2003.
- Ling Xu of Sichuan, China, a chemistry doctoral student, who delivered an oral presentation, "Synthesis, characterization, and application of grafted zirconium oxide on X-Alumina," at the 226th American Chemical Society National Meeting, New York City, N.Y., Sept. 7-11, 2003.
