UI Foundation publications win four national awards
Posted June 10, 2003
IOWA CITY -- Fund-raising materials produced by the University of Iowa Foundation communications staff have received four national awards from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), based in Washington, D.C.
Three UI Foundation publications earned silver medals from CASE:
- The "Hancher Circle" newsletter, distributed twice a year to contributors to the UI's Hancher Auditorium
- The invitation package for events related to the UI's June 8, 2002, launch of the public phase of its comprehensive fund-raising effort, "Good. Better. Best. Iowa: The Campaign to Advance Our Great University"
- The logo and graphic identity system developed for the Good. Better. Best. Iowa campaign
Receiving a bronze CASE medal was a special package of six campaign notecards, which featured the works of Iowa artists and were presented as campaign thank-you gifts.
UI Foundation senior vice president Alan Swanson said these awards reflect the continued quality of the Foundation's communications staff.
"These winning publications are a testament to our dedicated team of highly creative individuals," Swanson said. "These CASE awards confirm the quality of our efforts in the context of national peers, and what's most gratifying is the effectiveness of these materials as fund-raising and donor-relations tools."
The following individuals are current or former UI Foundation communications staff members who helped produce the four CASE winners: Danette Angerer, Nic Arp, Theresa Black, Richard Blazek, Jeff Brockmeyer, Connie Driscoll-Wicke, Betsy Hickok, Leah Klevar, Tom Langdon, Forrest Meyer, Jill Michka, Susan Shullaw and Peter Ylvisaker. The following individuals are former UI Foundation communication staff members or freelance contributors who helped produce the four CASE winners: Elizabeth Collins, Cheryl Jacobson, Julie Leonard, Claudia McGehee, Diane Merchant, Reggie Morrow, Julie Johnson Olson and Chuck Swanson.
The CASE recognition program honors outstanding work of the colleges, universities and independent schools that are CASE members. CASE receives more than 3,800 entries for its nationwide annual publications awards program.
The UI Foundation is acknowledged by the UI as a preferred channel for private contributions that benefit all areas of the university. For more information about the Good. Better. Best. Iowa campaign, visit its web site at www.GoodBetterBestIowa.org.
