IOWA CITY -- Pearson Educational Measurement of Iowa City, celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, has given $250,000 to the University of Iowa Foundation to support construction of the new UI Pomerantz Center, a comprehensive facility that will provide a breadth of academic, career and recruiting resources for prospective and current students and alumni.
In recognition of the gift for the new Pomerantz Center, which was funded largely by a $10 million naming gift from Marvin A. and Rose Lee Pomerantz of Des Moines, the building's career-services library will be named the Pearson Career Services Library.

"This gift celebrates our heritage and our enduring relationship with the University of Iowa," said Steve Kromer, vice president and general manager of Pearson Educational Measurement. "We recognize the organizational benefits that are derived from a high-quality educational experience, and the university is a primary sources for our most important asset -- our employees.
"In addition, the university provides our employees with a world-class venue to extend their professional development by participating in lectures, business roundtables and advanced-degree programs. As the University of Iowa helped and nurtured a fledging organization that grew and prospered into what it is today, in turn, we'd like to help our founding institution continue to grow and prosper as one of the foremost educational institutions in the world."

Said UI President David J. Skorton, "The career-services library made possible through Pearson's generous gift is a fitting tribute to the company's long and positive history with the university. This resource will benefit not just the University of Iowa, which is a key partner in the state's economic development, but also the Iowa business community -- and employers like Pearson."
Pearson Educational Measurement is a leading provider of high-quality educational assessment services offering large-scale program management, software systems design, performance-assessment scoring and paper and electronic test delivery, processing and reporting.
