Campaign milestones
(since January 1, 1999, launch)
- Five gifts of $10 million or more (Roy J. Carver Charitable Trust, Henry Tippie, Holden family, Jerre and Mary Joy Stead, Marvin and Rose Lee Pomerantz), totaling more than $150 million; prior to the campaign's launch in 1999, the foundation had received no gifts at this level
- 95 gift commitments of $1 million or more
- 46 percent increase in numbers of gifts (to 105,648 in 2002, compared to 72,138 in 1998)
- 32 percent increase in annual alumni giving (from 11 percent in 1998 to nearly 15 percent in 2002)
- 30 percent increase in annual outright gifts (to $67.5 million in 2002, compared to $52 million in 1998)
- 29 percent increase in the number of annual contributors (to 60,873 in 2002, compared to 47,191 in 1998)
- 34 percent of the outright gifts ever received by the UI Foundation have been made during this campaign ($292 million during the campaign period, out of $860 million total since 1956)
- Campus Campaign (active phase concluding 12/31/03) has increased the number of UI faculty and staff who have made a gift to the UI from 15 percent to 25 percent, with more than $20 million in gift commitments from faculty and staff during the course of the campaign

Progress toward featured campaign goals
Student support
- $107 million raised toward $142 million goal (70 percent)
- 60 new Presidential Scholarships (endowments of $100,000 or more)
- 100 percent increase in funding available to the UI for student aid since the campaign began
Faculty support
- $87 million raised toward $189 million goal (43 percent)
- 76 new endowed faculty positions created
- 39 percent increase in number of endowed faculty positions (268 today compared to pre-campaign baseline of 192)
Facilities support
- Private funding completed on six new UI facilities, providing more than 440,000 square feet of state-of-the-art classroom, lab and meeting space to UI students, faculty, staff and visitors:
- Medical Education and Research Facility
- Carver Biomedical Research Building
- Seamans Center for the Engineering Arts and Sciences
- Gerdin Athletic Learning Center
- Carver Mississippi Riverside Environmental Research Station
- UI Athletics Hall of Fame (Roy G. Karro Building)
- Fund-raising in progress for eight other projects (new construction and renovation):
- Adler Journalism and Mass Communications Building
- Art and Art History Building
- Blank Honors Center
- Glenn Schaeffer Library (Dey House addition for Writers' Workshop)
- Pomerantz Center
- Old Capitol renovation
- President's House renovation
- Athletics facilities
Programmatic support
- $240 million raised toward $201 million goal (111 percent)
- Includes major gift support for areas such as Hancher Auditorium, the UI Libraries, intercollegiate athletics and biomedical research
Unrestricted support
- $10 million raised toward $30 million goal (30 percent)
- Provides resources to be used by the UI President for campus-wide areas of greatest need
Annual/sustaining support
- $123 million raised toward $150 million goal (77 percent)
- Funds are directed by alumni and other contributors to ongoing funding needs in UI colleges and other units
