WSUI/KSUI holds annual fall fund drive
Posted October 15, 2003
IOWA CITY -- Public radio stations WSUI-AM 910 and KSUI-FM 91.7, listener supported services of the University of Iowa, will hold their annual fall on-air fund drive from Oct. 17-24.
"The drive is an opportunity to connect with our listeners," said John Monick, director emeritus. "The response of support from our previous drives was awe-inspiring. Our listeners make our radio stations happen."
The weeklong on-air fund drive is a time for listeners to call in and pledge their annual support of the stations. More than 100 volunteers work throughout the week to answer phones. Previous fund drives have raised as much as $200,000 from over 2,000 listeners. WSUI/KSUI relies on the semi-annual drives to support almost a third of their annual operating budget.
Supporters of public radio can pledge during the drive by calling 1-800-AIR-IOWA or 1-800-247-4692 or pledge online anytime at wsui.uiowa.edu or ksui.uiowa.edu .
"We depend on the support of our listeners. Our focus this drive is to reach out to new potential contributors while celebrating the impact of our current donors. They really do make a difference," said Monick.
The UI Foundation is acknowledged by the UI as a preferred channel for private contributions that benefit all areas of the university.
