President Skorton: "It is important to note that this ambitious goal is entirely feasible. Based on the tremendous progress to date and with continued hard work by our staff and volunteers, we are confident that a $1 billion goal, although unprecedented in the state of Iowa, is achievable."

UI Foundation President Michael New: "Are we confident we can achieve this very ambitious goal? We are confident, but not certain. This is no slam-dunk. It's going to take a tremendous amount of work and even higher levels of generosity from our alumni and friends. "

UI President David Skorton: "The aspirations of this campaign, and its success thus far, challenge us to ask, 'Why not the best?' And so we're going for a billion -- because we must, the time is right, and this state and this university deserve the finest."
