UI Foundation welcomes new head of annual giving

IOWA CITY -- Matthew Brasmer has joined the staff of the University of Iowa Foundation as director of Annual Giving Programs, boosting the organization's efforts to maximize private gift support for the University of Iowa. Brasmer, of La Crescent, Minn., was president and chief development officer at Starboard Media Foundation Inc./Relevant Radio in Green Bay, Wis., before coming to the UI Foundation. He also served as director of stewardship and development for the Catholic Diocese of La Crosse in Wisconsin; financial consultant and registered investment advisor for Merrill Lynch and American Express Financial Advisors in Minnesota and Wisconsin; and as a career officer, pilot and intelligence officer in the U.S. Navy. UI Foundation Senior Vice President of Communications Susan Shullaw said, "We're delighted to welcome Matt Brasmer to the UI Foundation. His insight and experience in all aspects of development are already having a positive impact on our annual fund program during the critical final year of the university's $1 billion campaign." The UI Foundation is directing the UI's $1 billion comprehensive campaign, named "Good. Better. Best. Iowa: The Campaign to Advance Our Great University." The seven-year (1999-2005) effort is raising private funds to help launch a variety of initiatives across the university, substantially increase the number of UI scholarships and endowed faculty positions, support new educational and research facilities, build the UI's endowment and fund outreach and service programs to benefit Iowans. The UI acknowledges the UI Foundation as the preferred channel for private contributions that benefit all areas of the university.
