How Far Can We Go?

IOWA CITY -- Fund-raising materials produced by the University of Iowa Foundation communications staff have received two national-level 2005 Circle of Excellence Awards from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), based in Washington, D.C.
The UI Foundation's 2003 annual report won a silver award in the competition's Individual Fund-Raising Publications category. Published in June 2004, the report was titled "Advancing Iowa: How Far Can We Go?"
A print ad for the I-Club, the annual fund for support of UI intercollegiate athletics, won a bronze award in the Advertising category of the competition. The ad featured the Iowa Hawkeyes' logo, the "Tigerhawk," appearing as a cloud formation above an Iowa landscape.

The CASE recognition program honors outstanding work of the colleges, universities and independent schools that are CASE members. The 2005 CASE Circle of Excellence Awards competition received more than 2,800 entries in 39 categories, of which only 315 received awards.
The awards reflect the foundation's commitment to excellence in all facets of its operations, said Susan Shullaw, UI Foundation senior vice president for communications and campaign support.
"These winning efforts are representative of the UI Foundation's high standards for maximizing private gift support for the students, faculty, staff and programming of the University of Iowa," Shullaw said. "Our communications staff does a consistently first-rate job of getting our message out. We're very pleased to see these staff members recognized for their work."
The following UI Foundation communications staff members helped produce the award-winning materials: Danette Angerer, Nic Arp, Theresa Black, Richard Blazek, Connie Driscoll-Wicke, Betsy Hickok, Leah Klevar, Tom Langdon, Forrest Meyer, Jill Tobin and Susan Shullaw.
The UI acknowledges the UI Foundation as the preferred channel for private contributions that benefit all areas of the university. For more information about the UI Foundation, visit its web site at www.uiowafoundation.org.
