Posted November 16, 2005

IOWA CITY -- Davenport radio station Clear Channel Mix 96 KMXG staff raised $46,198 during their first annual MIX for Kids radiothon to benefit Children's Hospital of Iowa at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City on Nov. 10 and 11.

MIX air staff Pat Leuck, Polly Peterson, Debbie McFadden and Ron Evans led the Mix team during the special event. Children's Hospital of Iowa treats more than 5,000 patients a year from Scott County, more than 2,200 from Rock Island County and 2,300 from Clinton County.

"We met some very brave and wonderful children who are facing some tremendous challenges," Leuck said. "These patients and their families are our neighbors, and we are proud to be able to help them in their time of need."

"As the state's only comprehensive academic medical center, we see the sickest children," says Michael Artman, M.D., UI professor and head of pediatrics and pediatrician-in-chief of Children's Hospital of Iowa. "We thank MIX 96 for their generous support that will help us to continue providing world-class treatment with a family-centered care philosophy in a state-of-the art hospital."

MIX 96 Program Director Jim O'Hara said, "We are grateful to our listeners who opened their hearts to support this great cause."
