Y105 radiothon to benefit Children's Hospital of Iowa

IOWA CITY -- The Y105 FM morning team of Chris Farber and Rachel Redford will broadcast live during the station's fifth annual Y105 Radiothon for Kids at Children's Hospital of Iowa during their Aug. 30 to Sept. 1 broadcast from the Kennedy Mall in Dubuque. Chris and Rachel will share the stories of patients, families and Children's Hospital of Iowa staff beginning at 6 a.m. Aug. 30 and concluding at 5 p.m. Sept. 1. The 2005 Y105 Radiothon raised more than $79,000 to help make a difference in the hospital experience of children from across the region. "Our staff is deeply committed to supporting children and their families at Children's Hospital of Iowa," said Scott Lindahl, Y105 station manager. "I am confident that our listeners will help us carry on this very important tradition." "Fundraising efforts such as the Y105 Radiothon are essential in allowing us to provide the most advanced, family-centered care possible," said Michael Artman, M.D., physician-in-chief of Children's Hospital of Iowa. "We take care of a large number of children from the tri-state area around Dubuque and we are extremely grateful for the support that people in that region provide for the children and families that we serve." Local schools, businesses and individuals will make donations during the event. Radiothon proceeds help create new programs for children and support ongoing research, enhancements to patient stays through services such as pain management, and patient education.
