On behalf of our Board of Directors and the UI Foundation staff, we extend our deepest and heartfelt sympathies to Rose Lee and the Pomerantz family on the loss of their beloved patriarch.

We all have lost a truly remarkable colleague and friend, and a vigorous and vocal advocate for the UI and the state of Iowa.  Marvin led by example and by the strength of his passion and love for this University, urging us to ever-higher levels of private support.  As chair of our board, the leader of many groundbreaking campaigns, an extraordinarily generous donor, and always as the source of wise and insightful counsel, Marvin made an enormous and lasting impact on this Foundation, on The University of Iowa, and on the entire state of Iowa.

Over his lifetime, Marvin and the Pomerantz family made gift commitments well in excess of $24 million to a wide variety of programs across the UI campus, from his alma mater, the Tippie College of Business, to the Pomerantz Career Center, UI Hospitals and Clinics, UI athletics, the Museum of Art, and countless other areas.

We will miss him greatly, though his influence will continue to guide us for decades to come.

For more information on Marvin Pomerantz and his ties to
The University of Iowa, see the obituary on the UI web site.
