For more than 110 years, the University of Iowa has led the way in nursing education, producing expert clinicians, educators, executives, and scientists who have shaped the nursing profession. Since its founding in 1898 as the University of Iowa Training School for Nurses, the University of Iowa College of Nursing has been committed to helping students develop critical-thinking skills, clinical decision-making abilities, and professional nursing values and ethics to meet the challenges of a health-care system that becomes more complex each year.

To build on our success and keep pace with the increasing demand for nursing professionals, the college has renewed and expanded its commitment to developing innovative academic programs and learning experiences, supporting our centers of research, and preparing “Iowa Nurses” to become future health-care leaders in our state, across the nation, and the world.

Honors Clubs

Annual support at every level is crucial to maintaining the quality of the University of Iowa College of Nursing's programs. The college has established honor clubs to recognize individuals and organizations who provide generous support to the Nursing Progress Fund and other college-wide resources.
