Jennifer Jungling '01 Nursing

Hometown: Cedar Falls, Iowa

"I'd recommend Iowa's nursing program to anyone. There are so many resources available, from the faculty, to the labs and clinics, to the interdisciplinary opportunities within UI Health Care. It's been a great experience. . ."

Jennifer knew she wanted to work in health care and chose nursing because of its hands-on, patient-oriented nature. She's a compassionate and caring person, so nursing was a natural fit.

And in turn, Jennifer has benefited from the support of compassionate and caring alumni and friends of the College of Nursing. She received the Ruth and Leonard Malmanger Scholarship, which was created by a former UI nursing student. She's also been able to study in an environment made rich by annual support for the Nursing Progress Fund.

The clinics in which she gains crucial hands-on experience are kept up to date with new technology and equipment. She participates in the Young Scientist Program, which pairs undergraduate students with faculty mentors to conduct valuable research. And this summer, she'll be attending a national conference held here on the UI campus. All of these are examples of how annual support helps committed students like Jennifer.

As a self-supporting student, Jennifer says the opportunity to work in a program so rich with support means a lot to her. She says, "It's a wonderful gift for students like me who are excited about what they're doing."
