Areas of Support
Colleges, departments, programs, and initiatives in all areas of the
University benefit from Presidents Club membership contributions, which are allocated to the program or programs each member specifies:
Scholarships and financial aid allow deserving students to continue their studies.
Faculty development, such as endowed faculty chairs and visiting lecture series, maintains the UI's legacy of academic quality.
Research funds provide for important advances in health care, the sciences, and the arts and humanities.
Capital needs and other special projects ensure that UI students and faculty have modern facilities and adequate resources for scholarly growth.
In addition, undesignated gifts to the Iowa Impact Fund are especially vital because they allow the President of the University to expand the institution's horizons as opportunities and needs arise. The Iowa Impact Fund is a flexible, University-wide resource for excellence at The University of Iowa.

Some UI alumni and friends have asked why the name of the University's highest honor club for contributors is not "The President's Club" or "The Presidents' Club."
Here's the history:
The Presidents Club was organized in 1967 in honor of all UI Presidents and to advance Iowa's academic excellence by encouraging greater private support.
In the case of The Presidents Club, the term "Presidents" is used as a plural in a descriptive sense rather than in a possessive sense.
