Ways of Giving
When thinking about how you might qualify for membership in The Presidents Club, please keep in mind that you can meet the qualification requirements in a variety of ways.
Most qualifying gifts or payments toward pledges are made by check as outright gifts. However, you should also consider discussing the following options with a member of the UI Foundation executive staff:
Bequests (which should be made to The State University of Iowa Foundation for the benefit of the UI college or program of your choice) may consist of all or a portion of your estate, cash, gifts in kind, or real property. Bequests have the advantage of creating meaningful future gifts without reducing your assets during your lifetime. (Read more about bequests.)
Gifts of real property, such as homes, farms, businesses, or land, can benefit both you and the UI. Such gifts typically provide a charitable deduction based on the current fair market value of the property and incur no capital gains tax, if gifts of appreciated property are made outright.
Life income gifts can reduce your income taxes, guarantee income for you and your heirs during your lifetime, reduce the taxes on your estate, and provide substantial future support for The University of Iowa. (Read more about life income gifts.)
Personal property such as artwork, musical instruments, historical documents, books, or antique furniture can be given to the Foundation for the University as a gift in kind.
Corporate gifts, qualifying generous corporations for membership in The Presidents Club Associates, can take the form of in-kind gifts such as computers or other equipment, as well as outright cash gifts.

Presidents Club:
To Lead and
To Serve
"With these tenets in mind, one can understand how our annual assemblies have become celebrations:
-- Of our joyful generosity
-- In our support of the diversity of disciplines and accomplishments of our University
-- Of our commitment to further the possibilities of continued University-wide excellence
Our coterie now numbers approximately 5,800 members. May our membership grow exponentially in the near future."
