Your Gifts Matter!
By giving to the Museum of Natural History Development Fund or the Old Capitol Museum Development Fund -- or to both funds -- you can help researchers explore, students learn, and children discover:
- Did you know? Students and staff from the UI Museum of Natural History are helping to solve a 12,000-year-old mystery. While excavating a giant, ice-age sloth near Shenandoah, Iowa, the team found the bones of a juvenile sloth near the adult-paired with the adult sloth, this represents the first-ever find of this kind. Your gift for the Museum of Natural History will help bring these two sloths to the UI for a new exhibit that not only will captivate visitors but also will strengthen UI paleontology research.
- Did you know? The words of those long gone still live on in Old Capitol Museum. Thanks to the Children's Diary Project, the voices of children from as far back as the 1870s can mingle with the voices of today's schoolchildren to enliven state history for Iowa youth through a special diaries exhibit and educational program in the museum's new Discovery Center. Your contribution to Old Capitol Museum will allow it to continue linking the past with the present through outstanding educational projects like this.
- Did you know? Iowa's landscape is the most changed landscape in the country. Visitors to the UI Museum of Natural History can learn more about Iowa's environment and native peoples through an exhibit in the museum's Iowa Hall. Your investment in the Museum of Natural History will allow our staff to create even more fascinating educational exhibits in the museum's new environmental learning center -- the Biosphere Discovery Hub, which will feature UI global environmental research.
- Did you know? One thousand books from the original state library's 1,500-book collection have found a home in Old Capitol Museum's Territorial and State Library. The story of this collection continues through Cornerstones, an exhibition on Iowa heritage appearing in the museum's new ground-floor Humanities Gallery. Your gift for Old Capitol Museum will enrich Iowa history through important collections and exhibitions that can inspire generations of historians and researchers to come.
Annual support is essential to the Pentacrest Museum's mission of providing an excellent resource for research, education, and service to the University and the state. Please do what you can to help by making your gift online now! Thank you.
