The University of Iowa College of Pharmacy
The University of Iowa College of Pharmacy, ranked sixth in the nation in 1998 by the Gourman Report, has a long and rich history of innovation in pharmacy education, research, and service. That tradition continues today as more than 500 professional and graduate students come from around Iowa and across the country to study pharmaceutical care with 56 exceptional full-time and 150 adjunct faculty.
The college's state-of-the-art offerings include:
- Three divisions (Clinical and Administrative Pharmacy, Medicinal and Natural Products Chemistry, and Pharmaceutics)
- Three nationally esteemed service centers (Pharmaceutical Services, the Iowa Drug Information Service, and the Center for Advanced Drug Development)
- Research linkages, including joint appointments, with the University's other health sciences colleges and the College of Engineering
- A newly expanded and renovated building, with state-of-the-art labs
- Unique working partnerships with practitioners statewide
- Economic partnerships with Iowa's biotech and pharmaceutical industries
Students in the college can pursue a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree in six-year or nontraditional programs, a Master of Science (M.S.) degree, or a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree. Whether their careers involve treating patients in a clinic, teaching in a classroom, or conducting research, their UI educations give them the means to excel.
