July 8, 2014
Proceeds from the event to support the new UI Children’s Hospital
The 7th annual Cruis’n for the Kids Car Show will host more than 150 classic and vintage cars and bikes from around Iowa. The cars and bikes will be on display on Saturday, July 12, from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, at Kinnick Stadium, in Iowa City, Iowa.
Guests of all ages are encouraged to join the fun with activities for the whole family, including free diecast cars for kids; music from the 1950’s and 60’s; appearances by Herky and Perky; a Hot Wheels Drag Racing track; balloons and a clown; face painting; silent auction items, including autographed Hawkeye items; a 50/50 drawing, and much more.
The Best of Show and Best Top 75 classic cars and bikes trophies will be awarded at 3:00 p.m.
All proceeds from the event go to help build the new University of Iowa Children’s Hospital. Cruis’n for the Kids has made a $50,000 gift commitment to support the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital building campaign. The campaign is being conducted to build a new 14-story, 195-bed children’s hospital—Iowa’s only comprehensive children’s hospital and academic medical center. Gifts such as those from Cruis’n for the Kids will help enhance health care for children in each of Iowa’s 99 counties and beyond.
“We’re all just kids at heart,” says car show co-host Terry Protextor. “Car guys and gals just have bigger toy cars to play with. The show is a lot of fun, and all for a great cause. We do this for the kids who need our help.”
The event is free to the public. The show registration fee per car is $15. Visit the Cruis’n for the Kids Car Show website for a car registration form and additional show information.
