Your Gifts Matter!
Your sustaining support for the University of Iowa College of Public Health provides essential resources. Your gift supports:
- The Department of Biostatistics, which helps ensure the safety of new drugs for society. For instance, the department is operating the data coordinating center for an NIH-funded international consortium studying innovative treatments for diabetes.
- The Department of Community and Behavioral Health, which develops and administers initiatives such as Quitline Iowa, a toll-free, statewide smoking-cessation hotline. So far, approximately 5,000 Iowans have called
1-866-U-CAN-TRY for information and resources.
- The Department of Epidemiology, which conducts research on avian flu viruses and other dangerous diseases, with the goal of early detection and decreased spread.
- The Department of Health Management and Policy, which is developing a long-term care assessment and counseling program to educate elders about available services that can help them stay in their own homes-and lead productive and fulfilling lives-as long as possible.
- The Department of Occupational and Environmental Health, which is part of an important new nationwide initiative designed to prevent deaths and injuries from tractor overturns and other tractor-related incidents.
Sustaining annual support from our alumni and friends for initiatives like these is vital to our mission. Please do what you can to help by giving online at www.givetoiowa.org/publichealth
