"The Health Administration program at Iowa is giving me an opportunity to pursue my professional interests. It's a selective program with 100 percent placement. Faculty members are always there, open to helping you learn, and the small class sizes create a community feel. I'd recommend the program to anyone. . ."
Christina has long been interested in health care. She's also long been interested in industrial design. So the College of Public Health's unique dual degree program with the College of Engineering, which allows her to combine her two interests in an interdisciplinary fashion, is a perfect fit.
That's the kind of innovation that the UI's newest college is bringing to health care education. And with the help of private support from the college's friends and alumni, students like Christina are bringing their UI expertise into the real and challenging world of today's health care.
Christina received the Adrienne Astolfi Eddins Scholarship, created in memory of Mrs. Eddins by her sister, a generous UI graduate. Christina also takes advantage of other opportunities made possible by private gifts: She participates in symposia, is paired with a mentor in the profession who can assist her with decisions and questions, and her summer internship with John Deere Health Care was facilitated by the Department of Health Management and Policy in the college.
Private support has helped this Iowa native prepare to serve, a fact that's not lost on Christina. "Because of the people who give to the college,"she says, "I can achieve my goals."
