Quick Links for UI Faculty and Staff
This page offers answers to questions and links to areas of the UI Foundation site that typically interest UI faculty and staff.
Why support Iowa?
For many UI faculty and staff, supporting the UI is something that happens on the job, day in and day out, in classrooms, labs, offices, and throughout the UI campus. The notion of making private contributions to the University, on top of one's daily work efforts, might seem a bit of a stretch for those who already give so much of their time and effort to the UI.
And yet, faculty and staff know better than most what it means to be a "state-assisted" University, rather than a "state-supported" institution. Faculty and staff have seen, first hand, what a difference private support can make in everything from student scholarships to ongoing support for research projects, curriculum enhancements, and technology upgrades.
The need for private support is clear -- and the need for private support from UI faculty and staff is doubly so: Not only do contributions from faculty and staff, when added to support from alumni and friends, help build the UI's quality and prestige, but -- just as important -- faculty and staff support sends an important message.
Your gifts tell alumni and friends that those closest to the University --those who know it best, from the inside out -- believe so strongly in the UI's mission that you're willing to support the institution through charitable gifts, as well as on the job. That's a powerful endorsement, and one that serves as a meaningful motivator to alumni and friends looking for signs that The University of Iowa is worthy of their support.
Opportunities for support
Gifts from UI faculty and staff have been directed to programs throughout the University, making a significant difference all across the campus. Many UI employees choose to give to their own area; that is, to the college or program in which they work.
Others give to areas that enrich the UI and the local community as a whole, such as Hancher Auditorium or the Museum of Art. Opportunities also exist to support programs such as faculty and staff development awards; please feel free to contact the Foundation for more details.
