Jean Smith
Class of 2008
"The Curriculum Resources Lab was my lifesaver—during my last year in the program, I practically lived there! I am really thankful for the private support that makes this excellent resource available."
While she was raising her own four children, Jean Smith volunteered at their school, where one third-grade student asked what she wanted to be when she grew up. When she said she didn't know, the student replied, "It's easy. A teacher—that's what you are." Years later, Jean is realizing her lifetime dream to receive a B.A. degree in elementary education—and she is grateful for private support that ensures the quality of a UI education in her field. Generous gifts to the College of Education have helped Jean "grow up" to become the best teacher she can be.
